We advertise our members’ voluntary vacancies on our brand new website www.volunteernorthhants.org We are also currently using the Do-It website to promote local voluntary roles. However, it has recently undergone some changes and now collects only a limited amount of information on volunteer candidates. In light of the changes we will be reviewing our use of the Do-it site, and withdrawing most opportunities over the next few months. If your organisation prefers to continue to advertise via Do-it, please contact us and we will advise you of next steps.
We are expanding our use of Facebook and advertise volunteer roles and community events and are exploring using both Twitter and LinkedIn in order to reach as wide a section of the volunteer population as we can. We try to attend as many outreach events as possible and have a regular presence in Basingstoke Discovery Centre every Tuesday morning (except the first Tuesday of the month).
We also offer one-to-one help to members of the public seeking a voluntary role. Please contact us to register a voluntary role and we will send you the appropriate forms. Or download the forms: Organisation Registration Form (If not already registered) plus Opportunity Registration Form and then return them to us.
We also support groups with recruitment in other ways, through events and marketing and we offer training in the best ways of finding volunteers that will offer best benefit to your organisation. We can also help to develop a new voluntary role and give guidance on how best to advertise a role.
The Volunteer Centre can advertise VCOs’ needs to local companies that wish to achieve their CSR objectives. If your organisation could use a team of people to carry out a short term (8 – 16 hours) project, such as decoration of a room, garden clearance, a fundraising event etc, we can make Basingstoke businesses aware of this. It is advisable to advertise these needs with plenty of notice. VCOs can also benefit from one person’s skills used on their behalf, e.g. to set up a simple database, offer training, or independently check their accounts.
To register an opportunity please download this form, complete it and return it to us or for more information please get in touch.
