Basingstoke Community Support Consortium

Basingstoke Community Support Consortium (BCSC) is a group of Voluntary/Community Organisations (VCO), statutory agencies and social housing providers, coordinated by BVS. It aims to improve the support services provided to VCO, to help them deliver their services within Basingstoke and Deane.

The profile of Voluntary/Community Sector (VCS) support services has been raised nationally through the Government ChangeUp agenda. BCSC has developed this strategy locally through consultation, to deliver the best services with maximum effect and efficiency based on identified need.

VISION
A strong, vibrant, creative, and diverse support network that meets the needs of Basingstoke and Deane VCS and helps support its efficiency and effectiveness.

AIM, OBJECTIVES AND PRIORITIES
BCSC aims to co-ordinate more effectively the activities of a group of organisations, to improve support for the VCS in the future.

Following extensive consultation with VCO, BCSC has identified and agreed seven outcomes, required to meet our local vision, together with priorities for action to achieve these outcomes:

  • High profile quality support services, embedded within the sector and meeting VCS needs
  • The local VCS fit for purpose and resourced
  • Partnerships inclusive of VCS
  • The Compact understood and implemented by all partners
  • A strong VCS network that facilitates communication
  • Unmet community needs identified and supported
  • A high profile VCS embedded within communities, and linked into other local service providers

BCSC have produced a Strategy and Action Plan.

The VCS endorsed Funding as the number one issue affecting the sector. In reponse BCSC has set up

  • Basingstoke4Community which is a searchable funding database
  • A series of Funding training sessions on a range of funding issues delivered by BVS as part of the "Purple Book"
  • Fundraising Clinic providing an opportunity for a VCO to discuss their issues with a professional consultant.
