Children's Services works to ensure that the Every Child Matters/Children Act 2004 is implemented effectively in Hampshire. Hampshire County Council provides services and information on children's services including Adoption and Fostering, Alcohol and Drugs, Bullying, Childcare, Child Protection and Welfare, Looked after Children, Missing Children, Parent Support, Support for Disabled Children, Teenage Pregnancy The Hampshire Childcare and Family Information Team (Cfit) is a free, confidential and impartial childcare and early education information service for parents and carers. They provide information on childcare, early education and related services in Hampshire for children and young people aged 0 -19 (including those with additional needs). The Hampshire Family Information Directory offers parents and practitioners the ability to search for information about childcare and family services in their local community, in other neighbouring authority areas and nationally. Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council has an Early Years and Childcare Co-ordinator as over the past two years, early year's provision has been given a higher profile within the Council's corporate priorities. Affordable and high quality child care, early education and play opportunities are recognised as being crucial in enabling parental choice for children's early learning and social development, in tackling poverty, in promoting adult learning and influencing work/life balance choices.
